Spain's foreign ministry yesterday summoned the Moroccan ambassador in Madrid, seeking clarification of statements by the latter's prime minister on the North African Ceuta and Melilla regions. "Spain expects that all its partners respect our country's sovereignty and territorial integrity," the ministry said in a statement, adding that it had asked for a "clarification" on the statements made by Moroccan Prime Minister, Saad-Eddine El-Othmani. El-Othmani recently said in an interview that his country was seeking "dialogue" with Spain over the fate of Ceuta and Melilla, which have been under Spanish control for centuries. Tech entrepreneur and failed Democrat presidential candidate Andrew Yang has filed paperwork to run for mayor of New York City, according to the Big Apple’s Campaign Finance Board. NBC 4 reports: [Yang] has been widely reported to be considering a bid for mayor, and the Public Policy Polling survey released Monday was the second poll in recent weeks to show him with a lead over Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams. Yang would get 17 percent support in a Democratic primary, according to the PPP survey. That gives him a 1-point lead over Adams, with all other candidates at least 10 points back. WASHINGTON — An effort to pursue a mid-range missile capable of going after maritime targets using the Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) has been terminated, according to the fiscal 2021 defense spending bill released Dec. 21. The bill, which emerged from conference committee, has zeroed out the Cross-Domain ATACMS program due to the program being terminated. The Pentagon had requested $62.5 million in its FY21 budget request. Defense News first reported in September the cross-domain upgrade to ATACMS, which was an anti-ship missile effort initiated by the Strategic Capabilities Office in 2016, was delayed due to technical problems. The Army would […]
By Tyler Durden Good news for people that like to make terrible decisions and avoid taking responsibility: robot scapegoats are here. According to a new academic paper published by the University of Southampton on December 11, robots can actually encourage risk-taking behavior in humans. The study was led by Dr Yaniv Hanoch, Associate Professor in Risk Management at the University of Southampton. The paper was published in the journal Cyberpsychology, Behavior, and Social Networking. The study involved 180 undergraduate students who were given a computer assessment that measured how likely they would be to “press their luck” in situations where they were awarded money and […]
Authored by James Rickards via The Daily Reckoning, In my 2011 book, Currency Wars, I gave a detailed description of the first-ever financial war game sponsored by the Department of Defense. This financial war game took place in 2009 at the top-secret Applied Physics Laboratory located about twenty miles north of Washington, D.C., in the Maryland countryside. Unlike typical war games, the “rules of engagement” for this financial exercise did not permit the use of any kinetic weapons such as bombs, missiles or drones. The only weapons allowed were financial instruments including stocks, bonds, currencies, commodities and derivatives. The game was played […]

The Iraqi Foreign Ministry, reacting to Trump’s Tuesday night pardons of four convicted mercenaries, expressed its outrage on Wednesday. “The ministry believes that this decision did not take into account the seriousness of the crime committed and was inconsistent with the U.S. administration’s declared commitment to the values […]

Stablecoins should meet the same regulatory standards as other aspects of the financial system, says President Trump’s Working Group on Financial Markets. The working group published a report Wednesday detailing how it views retail payments using stablecoins and asking for public feedback on the issue. Stablecoins must meet appropriate money-laundering and oversight requirements, the document said: “Where a stablecoin that is primarily used for retail payments is adopted at a significant scale in the United States, the associated risks may require additional safeguards. We encourage relevant participants engaged in the design of such stablecoin arrangements and their functions, operations, transactions, and […]

The fatwa comes amid growing concerns among many Muslims for whom consuming pork products is haram (forbidden) that the COVID-19 vaccine contains pork gelatine, a common vaccine ingredient which acts as a stabiliser to ensure the vaccines remain effective during storage and transportation. According to the council's Chairman Sheikh Abdallah Bin Bayyah, the coronavirus vaccines would not be subject to Islamic rulings on pork consumption due to the higher need to "protect the human body". Can Dündar, the former editor-in-chief of the anti-Islamist Turkish newspaper Cumhuriyet, received a 27-year prison sentence Wednesday for allegedly aiding a terrorist group by publishing a news story. Dündar left Turkey in 2016, stepping down from the top post at Turkey’s oldest national newspaper, following a public assassination attempt on the steps of the courthouse. Cumhuriyet has endured police action and prosecutions at all levels — from editor-in-chief to cafeteria cook — for publishing stories unfavorable to Islamist President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. President Donald Trump vetoed the annual defense authorization bill on Wednesday after a delay of more than a week, saying the the massive policy measure is a “gift” to China and Russia and fails to include several provisions he sees as necessary for national defense. “The act fails to include critical national security measures, includes provisions that fail to respect our veterans and our military’s history, and contradicts efforts by my Administration to put America first in our national security and foreign policy actions,” Trump wrote in a message to Congress announcing the veto. “I will not approve this bill, which […]
By The Corbett Report If the Gateses and the Faucis and the representatives of the international medical establishment get their way, life will not return to normal until the entire planet is vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2. What many do not yet understand, however, is that the vaccines that are being developed for SARS-Cov-2 are unlike any vaccines that have ever been used on the human population before. And, as radically different as these vaccines appear, they represent only the very beginning of a complete transformation of vaccine technology that is currently taking place in research labs across the planet. WASHINGTON — Congress granted partial funding for an Army tactical network program to modernize command posts after the effort hit delays. In the earlier House version the fiscal 2021 budget bill, lawmakers proposed eliminating funds for the program, called Command Post Integrated Infrastructure (CPI2), citing the request as “ahead of need.” In the final compromise, which President Donald Trump still has to sign, lawmakers opted to give the program $23 million of about $50 million requested by the Army Program Executive Office Command, Control, Communications-Tactical (PEO C3T), the modernization team’s acquisition arm. Stoltenberg told the German press agency DPA that the alliance would use weaponized unmanned aircraft in accordance with international law and in support of deployed troops. “These drones can support forces on the ground and reduce the number of pilots we send in harm’s way,” he was quoted as saying. His comments come as the question of arming drones has caused a major kerfuffle between the CDU and […]
By John Klyczek From Bill Gates to BigQuery, From Blockchain to Hashgraph In my recent article series, I document how the US Department of Education’s emergency COVID rules for “Distance Learning and Innovation” (85 FR 18638) have deregulated the federal requirements for “adaptive learning” and other ed-tech forms of “artificial intelligence” that are now being bankrolled by floods of stimulus money from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. I’ve also documented how such CARES-financed ed-tech, including adaptive-learning and socioemotional-feedback technologies, are set up to be data-mined through public-private partnerships that are being funded by the Bill and Melinda […]
Forget the global recession, the virus pandemic, trade wars, soaring geopolitical tensions, supply chain disruptions, and tens of millions of working-poor crushed deeper into poverty because the stock market is soaring and Wall Street is on an IPO bonanza ahead of the holidays. The stock market is in party mode as Robinhood traders pile into very bubblicious companies such as Tesla and Virgin Galactic. The underlying strength in these growth stocks is the likelihood of ongoing global stimulus. That momentum over the last eight months has propelled much of the market to sky-high valuations. To expand more on the valuation story, […]

Fox News host Pete Hegseth completed the circle on Wednesday morning, applauding President Donald Trump for pardoning four military contractors convicted of killing 14 unarmed Iraqi civilians in 2007. Hegseth’s public praise of the president follows a lengthy lobbying campaign on behalf of the convicted war criminals by the Fox & Friends personality. As you may recall, just before Trump tossed a hand grenade at the 11th hour into coronavirus relief legislation, the outgoing president went on a pre-Christmas pardoning spree that included four security guards for private military security firm Blackwater. The contractors—Paul Slough, Evan Liberty, Dustin Heard, and Nicholas […]

The EU on Wednesday announced that humanitarian support for refugees in Turkey will be extended until early 2022, Anadolu reports. "These programmes help over 1.8 million refugees meet their basic needs and will help over 700,000 children to continue their education," said a European Commission statement. The commission said included in this extension are the Emergency Social Safety Net (ESSN), which provide cash assistance to refugees in partnership with the Turkish Red Crescent (Kizilay), and the Conditional Cash Transfers for Education (CCTE), which provide support to families whose children attend school regularly. The programs, originally set up and funded under EU […]
GOP lawmakers said the Constitution always contemplated voting in person. A district court rejected the suit, contending that the courts had no power to police an internal congressional dispute. But McCarthy appealed the case to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, where the matter has been pending since October. Letter, in a notice to the appeals court, said Gianforte and Mitchell’s decision to vote by proxy proves that the McCarthy-led lawsuit “must fail” and “does not belong in court.” “Two plaintiffs’ use of remote voting also reaffirms the compelling interests that led the House to adopt the […]
George Papadopoulos, a former foreign policy adviser for Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and author, expressed his gratitude Wednesday for being among the group of presidential pardons and commutations as President Donald Trump’s term in the White House comes to an end. Papadopoulos had been charged with making false statements during FBI special counsel Robert Muller’s investigation into accusations of the Trump campaign colluding with Russia. Papadopoulos told Fox Business Network’s “Mornings with Maria” that he is “extremely grateful” for his pardon. He added that the pardon coming right before Christmas “made it even more special.” “I’m absolutely ecstatic,” Papadopoulos stated. “And first […]
WASHINGTON ― Some of the country’s leading defense firms are likely among the 18,000 SolarWinds customers that may have been swept up in one of the country’s worst cyber espionage failures, but investigations to determine the scope of the hackers’ reach will take significant time. Experts say there simply are not enough skilled threat-hunting teams to identify all the government and private-sector systems that may have been probed. FireEye, the cybersecurity company that discovered the intrusion into U.S. agencies and was among the victims, has already tallied dozens of casualties. It’s racing to identify more but already, Lockheed Martin, Microsoft, and […]
The Humane Society International (HSI) U.K. has warned shoppers to be wary of purchasing faux fur products online, even from leading brands including Amazon, eBay, Shein and Romwe, among others. This warning follows a recent HSI investigation, which revealed that online retailers are selling items labeled to contain faux fur despite actually including real fur. In the investigation, HSI’s undercover shoppers purchased various faux fur products; the items were then subjected to laboratory tests to determine whether they contain animal fur. As it turns out, most of the items were made with real fur. Continue reading below Our Featured Videos In […]
By Tyler Durden There is potential for conspiracy gold in a 2018 patent filed by aerospace engineer Dr. Salvatore Cezar Pais, who works for the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, a research organization within the Navy that specializes in electromagnetic drives and superconductors. During an interview with MSNBC on Tuesday night, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) admitted she hopes to see President Trump dragged out of the White House. Anchor Ayman Mohyeldin asked Waters about a recent quote by Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who said she’s “counting the hours” until she can pull President Trump “out of there by his hair, his little hands and his feet.” “Is that what a lot of Democrats are thinking right now about President Trump, that he’s got to get out of there one way or the other?” Mohyeldin asked. Waters responded, “We want him out, and we […]
Submitted by DataTrek Research Women’s Work: The Key to 2021’s Recovery We continue to believe that progress in female labor force participation (LFP) is a central issue to watch in gauging the strength of the US labor market and economic recovery in 2021 and beyond. History shows female LFP has been a critical long-run driver of the size of the American workforce back to World War II as well as defining the contours of more recent secular trends: Female LFP (red line in the chart below) nearly doubled from post-WWII (32.0 pct in January 1948) to its peak of 60.3 pct in […]
Millions more people will be plunged into England’s toughest Tier 4 coronavirus restrictions from December 26 in a bid to stem the rising number of infections, Health Secretary Matt Hancock said on Wednesday. At least 18 million people in England are now living under the Tier 4 rules, which ban people from leaving their homes without a “reasonable excuse” and mean they cannot meet other people indoors, including over the Christmas and New Year period. Afghanistan has long had a security problem, despite the many who have sought to guarantee its safety. The latest of those revealed themselves this week when Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif offered the Afghan government the help of Afghan Shia militants to fight against Daesh. "In Afghanistan, we are prepared to support [militants] under the leadership of the Afghan government," said Zarif. Kabul's reaction was not an agreeable one. Foreign Ministry spokesman Graan Hewad told Anadolu that "the Constitution, national interests and foreign policy of Afghanistan do not permit Afghan citizens, except when under the national flag, to enter regional wars […]
One of the most prestigious press freedom groups labeled Mexico as the most dangerous country for journalists in the Western Hemisphere. WASHINGTON – The U.S. Navy’s new shipbuilding plan shows that over the next five years it plans to decommission 11 cruisers with more than 1,340 vertical launch tubes, but Congress doesn’t think the Navy has a serious plan to replace them with a new generation of large surface combatant, according to the text of a recent funding bill. Citing a lack of clear direction for its large surface combatant building program and a recent reduction in plans for the next iteration of the Arleigh Burke-class destroyer, Congress is set to strip the project of more than 70 percent of the requested […]

Authored by Lance Roberts via RealInvestmentAdvice.com, In October, I discuss how the “2nd Derivative Effect” would mute the impact of future stimulus programs. With the passage of the $900 billion stimulus package, we can update the estimates for the economic impact heading into 2021. While most hope more stimulus will cure the economy’s ills, the “2nd derivative effect” will be problematic. Of course, since vast portions of the stimulus package went to everything but “helping out the average American,” such ensures the impact will be far less. Let me recap. NOTE: This article was written prior to Trump’s rejection of the stimulus bill. The analysis is […]

During the interview, he warned viewers that factory farms like the ones Smithfield operates could create the next pandemic, without […]

After hearing a series of fifteen petitions on Tuesday against Israel's Jewish Nation-State Law, the High Court of Justice is not expected to strike down the "racist" legislation, Dr Hassan Jabareen, the founder and executive director of Adalah rights group, has said. Eleven Supreme Court justices sat on the panel sitting as the High Court of Justice. The latter generally hears petitions and provides judicial review over the branches of the Israeli government. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu slammed the hearing on his Facebook page: "The court receives its power to rule by virtue of a basic law, and therefore cannot judge […]
High-profile members of the Democrat Party, including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), are rallying behind President Donald Trump’s call for Congress to provide more direct relief to the American people in the form of higher stimulus checks. The president on Tuesday addressed the $2.3 trillion coronavirus relief and government spending bill passed by both chambers earlier this week and demanded they amend the bill to provide more direct relief to American families. “I am asking Congress to amend this bill and increase the ridiculously low $600 to $2,000, or $4,000 for a couple,” Trump said, drawing […]

The US Justice Department is suing Walmart Inc., accusing the corporation of helping to fuel the opioid crisis through its pharmacies and ignoring warnings about their practices. According to the lawsuit filed in US District Court in Delaware, Walmart irresponsibly dispensed highly-addictive painkillers through its various in-store pharmacies. The lawsuit also accused the company of putting “enormous amounts of pressure” on pharmacists to fill a high volume of prescriptions “while at the same time denying them the authority to categorically refuse to fill prescriptions issued by prescribers the pharmacists knew were continually issuing invalid prescriptions.” Walmart operates more than 5000 pharmacies […]
Authored by Doug French via The Mises Institute, The New York Times managed to find some young people whose silver spoons provide a sour taste in their mouths. To hear them talk, their good fortune is making them sick. “I want to build a world where someone like me, a young person who controls tens of millions of dollars, is impossible,” Sam Jacobs, 25, told the Times. Jacobs went off to college a normal young man and came back a socialist.
