Above photo: YouTube. As the COVID-19 mainstream media narrative steadily disappears from news headlines around the world, following the highly coincidental timing of last week’s Davos Agenda virtual event held by the World Economic Forum, the corporate media has now, in lockstep, moved onto what many commentators predicted they would – an escalation in the current Ukraine crisis, in which Russia has been accused of planning an ‘imminent’ invasion of its smaller Western neighbour, with Kiev having come under the control the US-EU aligned governments of Petro Poroshenko and Volodymyr Zelensky since the 2014 CIA and MI6-orchestrated Euromaidan colour revolution was […]

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange prevailed in his effort to obtain certification from the British High Court of Justice, which would allow him to appeal their prior decision to the Supreme Court. Under the law, the court must determine that the request for an appeal involves a “point of law” that is of “public importance.” Journalist Mohamed Elmaazi, who was in the courtroom to cover the very brief proceedings, reported that the High Court certified the following point of law: “in what circumstances can an appellate court receive [diplomatic] assurances which were not before the court […]
“The Comprehensive Range Of NHS Services Salami, Sliced Down To A Remnant Of Poor Standard Emergency Care In Fewer Locations.” — Bob Gill The British National Health Service (NHS) once stood as an internationally renowned example of a tax-funded health system that delivered public-health services to millions of British citizens, lifting a huge burden from the sick. However, the rise of neoliberal policies in the United Kingdom has targeted the NHS to become the latest victim of a U.S.-U.K. economic trade deal that would put health care services in the hands of private U.S. corporations. This means that private U.S. […]

“I’ve Seen Too Much Not To Speak Out And I’d Rather Sleep Peacefully In A Cell Than Stay Silent For A Paycheck” — Former British Soldier Ahmed Al-Babati The war in Afghanistan appears to be drawing to a close. One particularly noteworthy example is the onslaught in Yemen, driving the country to become “the world’s worst humanitarian crisis,” in the opinion of the United Nations. Currently, more than half the country — 14 million people — are considered to be at risk of starvation. […]

A massive ‘Tallboy’ bomb dropped during a British Royal Air Force attack on a Nazi warship in 1945 has exploded underwater while being defused in northern Poland. Navy sappers were trying to neutralize the 5.4-ton device – found last year at the bottom of the Piast Canal, which connects the Baltic Sea with the Oder River – by burning out its explosives, but something went wrong and the bomb detonated. Fatalities and injuries were avoided because the divers were already at a “safe distance” when the device went off, […]

Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden has been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize by UK Labour Party lawmaker Chris Bryant, who credited the politician for easting political tensions amid violent protests across the US. “When American cities have been in flames and citizen has been pitched against citizen, Joe has been a calming influence to bear,” Bryant reportedly said Monday. “When others have resorted to violent solutions, he has argued that the best force is the force of argument because guns can stop a heart, but well-placed words can change many hearts, and many hearts can change the world.” The nomination […]

The proposed bill has drawn criticism from human rights groups, the Labour party and even MPs from the ruling Conservative party. The government of Boris Johnson has been urged to rethink its plans to introduce a bill that critics say would “dicriminalise torture” by British servicemen. The proposed bill would create a statutory presumption against the prosecution of troops and veterans for alleged offences that were committed more than five years ago. The British government’s Brexit-motivated plan for the internal market will rob Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland of their powers to decide on how they should live, officials fear. London “plans to sacrifice the future of the union by stealing powers from devolved administrations,” said Jeremy Miles, Wales’ counsel general and minister for European transition. He was referring to the Internal Market bill, which the Boris Johnson cabinet is set to make public on Wednesday. The legislation sparked a scandal earlier this week over provisions, which would de facto renege on key parts of the EU Withdrawal Agreement, which had been included […]

Covid-19 will stay with humankind “forever in some form or another,” a leading British scientist has predicted, advocating regular vaccinations of the population against the deadly disease. The not-exactly-optimistic prognosis was produced by Sir Mark Walport, a member of the UK government’s Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE), on Saturday. Unlike some other diseases, like smallpox “which could be eradicated by vaccination,” Covid-19 is unlikely to be completely destroyed, the scientist told BBC Radio 4. At the same time, “global vaccination” is a must merely to contain the ongoing pandemic, he believes. Also on rt.com ‘Famine of biblical proportions’ looms over […]

Beirut’s mayor has already likened the tragic incident with the notorious bombing of the Japanese city of Hiroshima, which happened almost exactly 75 years ago. The harrowing devastation and horrendous “mushroom cloud” that appeared above Beirut’s port seconds before the blast wave ripped through the nearby districts could not but spark comparisons with the only two times in history when nuclear weapons were used against cities – Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan. While Lebanese officials’ preliminary conclusions point to ammonium nitrate as the likely explosive that detonated on 4 August in the Port of Beirut, the similarity of the historic explosions […]

Egypt was ruled by the pharaohs from approximately 3100 BC to 30 BC. However, there was a short period when the country was under the rule of the Hyksos, who took advantage of a power vacuum and seized control of Egypt for one hundred years – or at least that’s what historical documents have told us. Who precisely the Hyksos were remains unclear. Scientists from Bournemouth University claim to have debunked a millennia-old myth about an invasion of Egypt by the Hyksos. After the pharaohs retook power from them, the Hyksos were called foreign invaders of an obscure race. However, historians […]

British Airways announced on Friday that it will retire all Boeing 747s in its fleet due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic amid a massive decrease in travellers this year. The British carrier operates the world’s largest fleet of its ‘Queen of the Skies’ jumbo jets in 1989, totalling 31 aircraft, and plans to reach net-zero carbon emissions target by 2050, BBC reported. “It is with great sadness that we can […]
A British nuclear-powered submarine was at “serious risk of collision” with a passenger ferry with hundreds on board after the commanding officer made decisions on “inaccurate information,” an investigation has found. A report conducted by the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) – published on Thursday – found that the two vessels came within 50-100 meters of each other during the incident on November 6, 2018. The investigation revealed that it was the third time in four years that a submerged Royal Navy submarine had narrowly missed a calamitous collision with another vessel. The Stena Superfast V11 ferry was travelling from Belfast […]

The UK government has yet to tackle the modern slavery problem despite the adoption of the Modern Slavery Act five years ago, British law and human trafficking specialists warn. They claim the legislation does not work, and allows business owners to circumvent its provisions and benefit from sweatshop labour. “Modern slavery” is thriving in some parts of the UK, with workers in Leicester factories making clothes in unsafe conditions for as little as £3.50 ($4.38) an hour which is far below the UK minimum wage of £8.72 ($10.92), according to The Sunday Times’ 6 July report. Modern slavery is defined in the […]
KARAMOJA, UGANDA – 2018/02/01: Girls sit in the yard at Kalas Girls Primary School, Amudat District, Karamoja, Uganda. They each escaped home after their families tried to force them to undergo FGM or to enter into an early marriage. Female genital mutilation (FGM) has been outlawed in Uganda since 2010, but aid workers and police say it’s still being practiced by tribes in the northeast, including the Pokots, Sebei, Tepeth and Kadama. Amid the Saudi-led military campaign in Yemen, some of its soldiers were taught in the UK how to look good in front of the world’s media in case of any “potential wrongdoing,” a new report says. Ministry of Defence data published by Declassified UK reveals that hundreds of Saudis entered the country for training at six Royal Air Force (RAF) sites in 2019. As the Saudis arrived, their country’s campaign against Yemen’s Houthi rebels entered its fourth year, and a ban on UK-made weapons exports to the desert kingdom came into effect, in response to growing human-rights concerns. The UK government reportedly ordered courts to treat unruly protesters, rioters and vandals to “24-hour justice,” calling on magistrates to “fast-track” their legal proceedings amid ongoing demonstrations over police brutality. Justice Secretary Robert Buckland instructed the courts to extend their working hours and expedite cases linked to the protests, according to the Times newspaper. Buckland urged court officials to model their approach on the response to the 2011 London riots, which also saw fast-tracked proceedings and heavier sentences. Under the plan, coordinated with Interior Minister Priti Patel, those committing acts of vandalism, arson or assaults on police will be jailed within […]

We’ll meet again, you Nazi bastards… Few in America probably realise the significance of this day, June 4th, 80 years after the British Army made a fortuitous tactical retreat across the channel. Hollywood has yet to make a major movie about this momentous event as very few Americans were present – hence the modern-day lack of knowledge of how those brave little boats saved Europe. Tom Hanks has never appeared on a mole bravely guiding troops onto boats, Spielberg never considered these events worthy of depiction, but to Britons, this was not the end of the beginning, but it may have […]
