Announcing the International Day of Solidarity with Marius Mason and All Long-Term Anarchist Prisoners on June 11, 2022. As time moves on and the seasons change, we approach once again the June 11 International Day of Solidarity with Marius Mason and All Long-Term Anarchist Prisoners. Another year has passed, and many of our dear comrades remain captives of the state, subject to its daily subjugation, isolation, and brutality. June 11 is a time to stop the ever-quickening rush of our lives and remember. Remember our imprisoned comrades. Remember our own histories of revolt. Remember the flame – sometimes flickering, sometimes blazing – […]

Replying to a specific question in an interview to an American news channel, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said that the move would be escalatory as it will “potentially put us […]
This is a unique moment in Canadian history. Never in living memory has our nation’s capital city been occupied and disrupted for weeks, with the police and governments paralyzed. Ottawa residents are traumatized, wondering when their communities will be left in peace. Many of us are deeply troubled by what we see in the news every day. But for others, the convoy movement is about standing up to an uncaring government that they feel is over-reaching and interfering in their lives. In the streets of Ottawa, Edmonton, Quebec or Winnipeg, they see joyful gatherings of “good people” just like themselves waving […]

We must fix our broken system of labor law. One of the most important things that could be done to generate a more equitable economy is to dismantle the barriers to union organizing and collective bargaining (McNicholas et al. 2019; Oliver 2021). New data on unionization from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS 2022), coupled with evidence on the value of unions and on workers’ desire to be unionized, reinforce the importance of this goal and the urgent need for policy reforms: In 2021, 15.8 million workers in the United States were represented by a union—a decline of 581,000 from 2019 […]

Sen. Ben Sasse (R-NE) claims US President Donald Trump is “deficient” in certain American values and, as a result, engages in a number of unconventional practices while occupying the White House, including treating the presidency “like a business opportunity” while kissing “dictators’ butts.” During a private call with constituents this week, Sasse was asked by an unidentified individual to provide an explanation as to why he feels the need to criticize Trump “so much.” Before answering the question, Sasse noted that he and Trump did agree on the judicial appointment of more originalists regarding the Constitution, including US Supreme Court nominee […]

One of the loudest and most aggressive conservative advocacy groups of the past decade is asking Americans to calm down and stop talking about politics, if only for a day. FreedomWorks, the libertarian outfit that rose to prominence through its hard-line opposition to Barack Obama, the Affordable Care Act, and the Republican establishment, has unveiled a new campaign that encourages Americans to tone down the rancorous political rhetoric. Dubbed “Celebrate Americans,” the initiative proposes setting aside Labor Day as a politics-free day of national harmony. It’s a message that most would expect to see from a kumbaya centrist organization like No […]

As NXIVM leader Keith Raniere awaits sentencing for using the self-help group as a sex cult for his personal pleasure, prosecutors say he is still issuing demands to his disciples from inside a prison cell and has “demonstrated a complete lack of acceptance and responsibility for his crimes.” One of those commands was to “get scrutiny” on the Brooklyn federal judge that will issue his sentence for several sex crimes in October, prosecutors said in a sentencing memo filed late Thursday. Another was to get pundits, including Harvard professor Alan Dershowitz, to speak on his behalf. And he allegedly wanted a […]
