I love a good cup of coffee. But I am also lazy. In the morning and just in general. I am someone who will, for example, do a pour over, but I also opt for a Keurig cup (reusable, though!) or a french press because of their convenience. But making a batch of cold brew, while actually surprisingly simple, takes hours, and I don’t know, there’s something that has for the most part, kept me at bay. Don’t get me wrong, I love iced coffee, and with it being just about the right time for it, I’m so glad to have […]

The Zapatistas need your solidarity after targeted attacks by government-linked paramilitaries destroyed much of this year’s coffee harvest. On August 22, 2020, the ORCAO paramilitary organization looted and burned two Zapatista coffee warehouses in Cuxuljá, Chiapas. This is the latest in an accelerating series of attacks on the Zapatista project since the current administration of Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) took office. Many of you will remember that in 2017 as Trump took […]
Let me preface this by saying that I have no idea how this happened. In my early 20s, I could drink five or more cups of coffee a day, no problem. I scoffed at the idea of decaf (“What’s the point if there’s no caffeine?”) and the best coffee alternatives were nowhere near my radar. However, I soon noticed that each cup seemed to make me more anxious and less energetic, simultaneously. My nutritionist friend said it was probably “adrenal fatigue” (and that was vague enough for me to overlook — for a while) but if I was being honest with […]

It has remained widely available on supermarket shelves even though COVID-19 has been particularly […]
About a year ago, I made the switch from buying my morning coffee at Starbucks every day to making it myself at home, and, like many regular coffee drinkers, I’m very particular about it. Despite having an entire cabinet dedicated to mugs I have collected throughout the year, I refuse to drink my coffee out of anything but these Bodum Pavina Glasses. I was first influenced to buy these from a blogger I follow on Instagram, and the only reason I purchased them is because I loved how they look—the two layer design makes it look like your liquid of choice […]
A Chicago, Illinois, Dunkin’ Donuts location recently fired an employee shortly after he was arrested and slapped with several charges for allegedly adding saliva to an Illinois State Police (ISP) District Chicago trooper’s coffee order. The ISP revealed on Saturday that Vincent Sessler, a 25-year-old former Dunkin’ employee in Chicago’s Far West, was arrested “without incident” and charged with disorderly conduct, reckless conduct and battery to a peace officer after officers conducted an investigation. According to the release, an ISP officer ordered a large, black coffee from the Dunkin’ location at approximately 10:20 p.m. local time on July 30. The officer […]
An unhinged lunatic approached two men, sitting outside in Manhattan Beach, California. The woman then lectured the men for not wearing masks. She didn’t like their responses so she threw hot coffee on them. Obviously, she’s a very tolerant and loving person. She didn’t expect the men to get up and beat her boyfriend bloody. Karen approached a man about not wearing a mask, didn’t like his response, attacked him with hot coffee, got twirled around and beat up along with her boyfriend and had the nerve to call the police leaving out throwing coffeehttps://t.co/ZRMMUeZolV pic.twitter.com/knRYay3gnR — JaVonni Brustow 👑 (@JaVonniBrustow) […]
IBM is giving its blockchain track-and-trace capabilities the social-impact treatment with a provenance application that enables coffee drinkers to directly assist the smallholders who farmed the beans. Announced Wednesday, IBM has teamed up with J. M. Smucker Company – the $12.2 billion food giant behind coffee brands like Folgers, Café Bustelo and Dunkin’ – to trace the supply chain of Colombian coffee. The program is meant to support the farmers who grow Smucker’s coffee beans with clickable donations to a variety of local community programs to build schools, clean water systems and other infrastructure. The coffee provenance blockchain, which IBM says is […]
I am not a big subscription box person. I have been trying some out though and the one that has stuck has been coffee. I think the reason for this is the pure urgency. I don’t need meat every morning (in fact, I don’t want it) but coffee on the other hand is an absolute must. And there is nothing worse than waking up, meandering to the kitchen, and realizing that the coffee tin is empty. That’s where these subscription boxes come in. There are plenty of great ones to choose from, but the main similarity is that they’ll all keep […]
As protests across Chicago devolved into chaos last week and residents started to loot nearby stores, police officers were making popcorn and drinking coffee while “lounging” inside Congressman Bobby Rush’s office, officials said in a stunning news conference on Thursday. Speaking alongside Mayor Lori Lightfoot, Rush said at least 13 Chicago Police officers were loitering inside his South Side campaign office in the early hours of June 1 and were “relaxing” while nearby stores were being looted and burned, and their fellow officers were clashing with demonstrators. “They even had the unmitigated gall to make coffee for themselves and to pop […]
One of my fondest memories is when my good friend discovered the Chemex pour over. I remember going to his house and watching him go through the whole routine — weighing beans, boiling water to the exact right temperature, and pouring it in concentric circles over the grounds. It seemed a little obnoxious, but moments later, I ate (or drank) my words. It was by far the most delicious cup of coffee I’d ever had in my life, and remains up there to this day. I’ve tried recreating the cup on my own, but ultimately, it’s a lot of work and a […]
Russia may no longer be a tea country with coffee taking the leading position in the market, customs data and recent analyst estimates show. According to customs data, Russia imported nearly 218,000 tons of coffee last year, while tea imports stood at around 150,000 tons. Coffee overtook tea shipments both by volume and value, as the imports were worth over $630 million – around 50 percent higher than tea imports. The trend continued this year, with Russia still buying much more coffee than tea. Also on rt.com Do Russian grain export limits threaten global food security? Industry experts also note that […]
