When comedian Robert Smigel appeared on The Last Laugh podcast early this summer, he revealed that his greatest creation, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, would almost certainly be entering the 2020 election fray—despite a deadly pandemic that had moved much of the campaign off the trail. On Wednesday night, he made good on that promise by delivering a hilarious focus group full of very real Trump supporters on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. “The Trump presidency has been four years of him making shocking and hate-filled remarks,” Colbert said at the top. “I’ve often wondered, is there any message, is […]
“My dog is trilingual!” is my favorite joke to make when people meet my new rescue pup, Cannoli. Technically, he only speaks “dog” fluently, but as a Korean-born dog that literally flew to America to be with me, I assume he understands a little bit of both of those human languages, too. I always knew I would get a dog of my own eventually and walked a ton of them in 2019 for extra cash and snuggles. I even fostered an adorable senior Shih Tzu from the ASPCA in New York City where I live. But I never thought I would […]
Thought to Be Extinct, New Guinea’s Singing Dogs Found Alive in the Wild by Alex Fox/Smithsonianmag.com The New Guinea singing dog was thought to be extinct in the wild, but new genetic research suggests their distinctive howl still echoes in the highlands of the Oceanic islands, reports James Gorman for the New York Times. Not seen in the wild by scientists since the 1970s, conservation biologists thought the only New Guinea singing dogs left on Earth were the 200 to 300 captive animals residing in zoos and sanctuaries, reports Michael Price for Science. But anecdotal reports and a pair of photographs suggested a similarly tan-colored, medium-sized wild dog was […]

Dog owners in Germany may soon be required by law to walk their furry friends at minimum twice a day, as the country’s Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture is set to introduce a new law next year to ensure dogs get enough activity. German Federal Minister for Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection Julia Klöckner, who came up with the mandate, said that the new law is based on the recommendations of animal welfare experts. She intends to introduce it next year to ensure the nation’s 9.4 million dogs get enough exercise and stimuli, the Guardian reported. The Hundeverordnung, or Dogs […]

So do animals, as a horde of huskies recently demonstrated. Footage shared on YouTube by ViralHog captures visitors at the Huskitory cafe in Taman Asean, Melaka, Malaysia. When it is time for the fluffy snowdogs to spend time with the attendees, they run in simultaneously but are overly enthusiastic, causing a bit of ruckus. Luckily, the cute furballs quickly settle down and enjoy a fun-filled afternoon together. “Customers are swarmed by husky dogs in a dog cafe in Melaka, Malaysia,” the animal-lover who recorded the footage […]

Nevertheless, don’t forget to wish your four-legged loved ones good health each time they sneeze or cough. This video shows a trio of cute dogs – two huskies and a labrador – travelling in a car. Suddenly, one of the huskies starts sneezing, and it does it several times in a row, which makes its buddies really worried about the situation: just look how caring the other husky is! “That’s the cutest thing ever! They should teach some humans to be so caring,” one viewer […]
Photo by Carol Duff How Do Dogs Find Their Way Home? They Might Sense Earth’s Magnetic Field by Courtney Sexton/Smithsonianmag.com Last week, Cleo the four-year-old yellow Labrador retriever showed up on the doorstep of the home her family moved away from two years ago, reports Caitlin O’Kane for CBS News. As it turns out, Cleo traveled nearly 60 miles from her current home in Kansas to her old one in Missouri. Cleo is just one of many dogs who have made headlines for their homing instincts; in 1924, for example, a collie known as “Bobbie the Wonder Dog” traveled 2,800 miles in […]
There will be dogs. So many strange, wonderful, extraordinary dogs. MYSTICAL MERMAID Dog: Hero (Standard Poodle) The mermaid design was planned out over a span of about 2 years. For this design to work as planned, I had to grow Hero’s hair on his topknot for over two years. My idea was to make the dog completely disappear into the design. All the colors used were Opawz pet hair dye. The dye job was done in 1-2 hour sessions over several weeks. This design is also featured in Well Groomed. ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL POODLE Dog: Gus (Standard Poodle) This design was […]

In a sense watching our pets gives us perspective about ourselves – which can quite often be hilarious. An amusing pitbull named Lou has been caught on camera sitting on a sofa, its front paw placed on the side of the couch. Judging by the contemplative and somewhat melancholic look on his face, the doggo seemed to be brooding over something, but his trail of thoughts were disrupted after its owners, who could barely contain their laughter, called out his […]
Ecologists Dig Prairie Dogs, And You Should Too by Andy Boyce and Andrew Dreelin/Smithsonian Zoo Varmint, gopher, keystone species, ecosystem engineer. What prairie dogs are to you depends on your point of view. Although many people view prairie dogs as pests, ecologists absolutely dig them. At our field site in north-central Montana, we’re learning more about how black-tailed prairie dogs change the landscape and support the many species that call the prairie home. Prairie dogs are not big and charismatic like bison, grizzly bears or pandas, but they are just as important and perhaps even more controversial. The cause for their controversy is […]

Luckily, they are also careful, so their friendly nature often prevents them from escalating tensions, even after an impressive display of bravado. Just look at this angry doggo! Seems like the golden retriever will be in a heap of trouble, as the furious husky is gnashing its teeth like a big bad wolf, and only people intervening prevent them from a bloody […]

Similarly, animals also feel this sentiment, as an adorable puppy recently demonstrated. Footage shared on Instagram captures Wriggly, an adorable golden retriever puppy that is in training to be a future guide dog alongside her “mom,” a guide dog helping to mold her for her future service. The helper-in-training is captured sleeping alongside her adoptive parent while snuggled up in the sweetest way. Sweet dreams, lovelies! Source link
Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D) destroyed countless jobs in her state by imposing a series of authoritarian Coronavirus lockdown orders. The crazed Governor prohibited big box retailers from in-person sale of seeds because according to her, food is non-essential. Whitmer limited access of doctors from prescribing the lifesaving drugs hydroxychloroquine and Z-Paks to save senior citizens in the state from Coronavirus. Whitmer also called on Home Depot and Lowes to shut down to close certain sections like flooring, garden centers and plant nurseries. The far-left governor also banned travel between homes for Michigan residents! Now she’s telling unemployed healthcare workers waiting for their unemployment […]

Even for a puppy, there are a lot of ways to have fun during the cold season – so many of them are happy to see snow and ice covering the terrain. This golden retriever knows it might be difficult to walk during the winter, but remembers that sliding isn’t a problem. So the doggo just goes down a hill at full […]
