WASHINGTON — In a move likely to anger Congress, the defense department announced Sunday that controversial nominee Anthony Tata has been appointed to fill the number two policy job at the Pentagon. The move came just days after the Senate Armed Services Committee scrapped a confirmation hearing for Tata, a retired Army brigadier general and Fox News guest who has been a vocal supporter of President Donald Trump, after there was not enough support among Republican senators to push his nomination through. A week before the Federal Communications Commission officially signed off on a plan for Ligado Networks to use L-Band spectrum, Rep. The Senate’s version of the National Defense Authorization Act contains language attempting to slow the rollout of Ligado network’s use of L-Band spectrum, which defense officials say will harm Global Positioning System capabilities.
