There Are Growing Elements Of The Repressive Forces Of The State That No Longer Adhere To The Norms Of Bourgeois Democracy. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s decision to invoke the Emergencies Act to deal with the fascist “trucker” convoy has been met with a mix of support, criticism, and confusion. While Trudeau and his government claim that this is necessary to respond to the situation, many of us on the left remain skeptical, having witnessed first-hand the power of police protest control in the absence of the Emergencies Act. The US would far prefer to just quietly extradite Saab to Miami, use whatever means necessary to extract sensitive information from him, and then warehouse […]

Millions of people also believe systemic racial and class biases are relics of a bygone era washed away by progressivism, the election of the First Black President, and the great healer called Time. But those millions of people need to wake up and watch Jason Pollock’s documentary, “Finding Kendrick Johnson” (2021), for a healthy and horrifying dose of reality. The film begins with Kendrick […]

On Sunday night, John Oliver’s Last Week Tonight took on a truly chaotic week. President Trump sweated and bellowed through an unhinged NBC town hall where he voiced his support for the baseless QAnon conspiracy-theory crowd, who allege that Democrats and Hollywood are trafficking and murdering babies. He resumed his COVID superspreader rallies and shared a batshit-insane conspiracy theory that Barack Obama and Joe Biden did not kill Osama bin Laden in Operation Neptune Spear and instead had SEAL Team Six killed. Never mind the fact that the SEALs who took out bin Laden are still very much alive—including Robert J. […]

A groundbreaking new study of high resolution satellite imagery using a deep-learning algorithm has found that, contrary to popular opinion, there are at least 1.8 billion trees in the Sahel and Sahara deserts. A team of 24 scientists from across Europe, the US and Africa found that the so-called sub-humid zone is surprisingly filled with plant life, forcing a rethink of two of the world’s major deserts and even public policy on deforestation. “We were very surprised that there are quite so many trees growing in the Sahara desert,” lead author Martin Brandt, an assistant professor of geography at the University […]
Some 4.5 billion years ago, our planet was a drastically different place – an uninhabitable world with extremely hot temperatures, toxic air, and pounded with radiation coming from the Sun in the form of flares and coronal mass ejections. Scientists believe everything changed with the formation of the Moon. The Earth and the Moon once had a joint magnetic field that acted as a shield against solar wind particles, says a new study conducted by an international team of scientists led by NASA. For a long time, scientists believed that the Moon didn’t have a long-lasting magnetic field due to the […]

There’s been so much chaos this past week that the HBO host said they didn’t have time to even address the $750 Trump paid in income tax for two years (as revealed by The New York Times), Melania Trump “essentially saying ‘fuck Christmas’” (recordings dropped by former Melania aide Stephanie Winston Wolkoff), and Trump refusing to condemn the Proud Boys during the first presidential debate, telling the far-right anti-masturbation hate group to “stand back, and stand by.” All […]

General Sir Patrick Sanders, who sits at the apex of Britain’s Strategic Command, revealed that British military personnel are working closely with their counterparts at the civilian intelligence […]

A researcher has suggested that there is something which could have altered the Titanic’s navigational readings, bringing about a collision with an iceberg that killed almost 1,500 passengers. The Titanic could have hit an iceberg in the North Atlantic after being pushed off course by intense space weather, Mila Zinkova, an independent US researcher and a retired computer scientist, has suggested in a new study, which claimed that a huge solar flare in the northern hemisphere may have actually caused the disastrous crash. The researcher cited evidence of strong solar activity on the night the Titanic sank – 15 April 1912 […]

The ancient Indus Valley Civilisation was located in present-day Pakistan and northwestern India on the plains of the Indus River. Evidence obtained during archaeological excavations show a flourishing civilisation existed in this area around 5500 BCE. In an article published in Chaos: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Nonlinear Science, Nishant Malik, Assistant Professor at the School of Mathematical Studies at the Rochester Institute of Technology revealed a new technique he developed to show how shifting monsoon patterns […]

The Indian military has accused China of violating the status quo with “provocative military movements” along the disputed border in Eastern Ladakh. There were intense clashes between the two nations in the area earlier this year. Democrats have labored to make the case that Postmaster General Louis DeJoy knowingly acted as a henchman for President Donald Trump’s designs on the U.S. Postal Service. But during a high-profile congressional hearing on Monday, they might have made a different point more successfully: that he doesn’t know what he’s doing. When he took over the Postal Service’s top job in June, DeJoy, a former logistics executive and Trump mega-donor, presided over an overhaul of mail delivery practices supposedly designed to make the agency more effective and efficient. Instead, they led to significant nationwide delays, sparking concerns over the Postal Service’s […]

On Monday, the UK Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) announced that A-level and GCSE students in Britain would be given the exam grades predicted by their teachers instead of those awarded by a controversial algorithm that had triggered a grading fiasco. The survey also indicated that getting pupils back into class full time in September should be the top priority for ministers. Most respondents said that they are […]

On Friday, the United Nations Security Council rejected a US draft resolution to indefinitely extend the UN arms embargo against Iran, which is set to expire in October. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the decision “scandalous,” while senior US Senator Lindsey Graham claimed it makes “a major conflict” with Iran “much more likely.” The United States and Israel are already preparing for a scenario in which Russia sells its S-400 air defence system to Iran, including by conducting drills involving the destruction of advanced surface-to-air missile threats, Breaking Defense has intimated.
