A new report by an Australian research group has identified and mapped more than 380 suspected detention facilities in China’s western Xinjiang region. The Australian Strategic Policy Institute says in its report that these centers have been built and expanded even as Chinese officials claimed most of the people sent to the facilities had “returned to society.” The researchers say they believe their database and map covers most such facilities that exist. ASPI scoured satellite photos for evidence of such facilities, including nighttime imagery that showed evidence of new construction in places where there hadn’t been illumination in the past. Their […]

twitter.com Thousands Allowed to Bypass Environmental Rules An AP investigation has found that thousands of oil and gas operations and other sites in the U.S. have won permission to bypass environmental rules because of the pandemic. https://t.co/kA1vrJ7OTx — The Associated Press (@AP) August 24, 2020 Health Editor’s Note: As if ignoring the coronavirus which has long since reached pandemic proportions was not enough of an assault on the American people, the Trump administration has gone a long way toward taking the U.S. back into the dark ages of pollution. After being pressured by gas and oil industries, who lied and said […]
As President Donald Trump’s campaign sponges up grassroots donations for his reelection bid, it’s leaning on a largely unnoticed pool of support: a network of pro-Trump media organizations that lure in readers with splashy, ideologically driven content, harvest their email addresses, and then sell them back to the Trump campaign. News outlets such as Trump Train News, American Action News, UnitedVoice, and RightWing.org appear on their face to be standard—if occasionally unpolished—conservative media operations. They largely aggregate reporting from other news organizations, put a pro-Trump spin on the stories, and top them with clicky headlines geared to catch the eyes of […]

Masses and other activities were canceled at least through Thursday at St. Joseph’s Church in New Haven as parish leaders assessed the damage, including what appear to be satanic and anarchist symbols painted on the building’s doors, the Rev. John Paul Walker said in a Facebook post. Once services resume, the church doors will only be unlocked for masses and confession. The New Haven incident marks the latest […]
