After running a cold open that mocked NBC’s controversial Trump town hall, Saturday Night Live also dedicated a portion of this week’s “Weekend Update” segment to flame the network. After Colin Jost roasted the president for hosting more “coronavirus giveaways across the country,” Michael Che went in on his home network for giving the president a platform. “What can I say?” Che said. “We have a type.” Photos of Matt Lauer, Bill Cosby, and Donald Trump appeared behind him—a nod to the alleged predators with whom the network has happily worked in the past. TORONTO (Sputnik) – The Canadian Supreme Court struck a blow to fighting government corruption by dismissing a new probe into whether a religious leader lobbied Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Democracy Watch co-founder Duff Conacher said in a statement on Thursday. The high court earlier denied a request for a new probe into allegations that the Aga Khan lobbied Trudeau during a trip to the religious leader’s private island. “In its shocking refusal to allow Democracy Watch’s appeal, the Supreme Court has joined the Federal Court of Appeal in striking a serious blow against the public’s rights to complain about corruption and […]
British television host Piers Morgan, known for brash commentary and his support for the US President, earlier in the pandemic savaged the POTUS’s handling of the coronavirus crisis, opening his Daily Mail column with the headline “SHUT THE F*** UP, PRESIDENT TRUMP.” British broadcaster Piers Morgan, previously an outspoken champion of Donald Trump, has exclaimed in his typically brusque manner that he “doesn’t get” US President Donald Trump’s response to the coronavirus pandemic. The Good Morning Britain host, who first became acquainted with Trump after winning the first installment of businessman’s The Celebrity Apprentice reality game show in 2008, opened up […]
TikTok has faced tough pressure from the United States recently, with the Trump administration attacking the company and seeking to ban the app over national security concerns, and fears that the video platform could be used to influence the outcome of the upcoming US presidential election. A San-Fransisco-based rival of TikTok, named Triller, slammed the Chinese video app for “bullying” and using bad press to undermine Triller’s growth, Fox News reported, citing a memo sent to Triller employees by their chairman, Bobby Sarnevesht. “TikTok is ‘an arm of the Chinese government”, Sarnevesht wrote. “As we have witnessed, they do not play by […]
On Friday night, Bill Maher kicked off the latest edition of his HBO show Real Time by addressing how President Trump got COVID-19—after doing pretty much everything in his power to get it. “I’m telling you, this getting COVID thing, not good for him,” said Maher. “The way he handled it, I think the final blow is that, you know what, we’ve seen that he gets treatment we would never get. He’s out after everything bragging, ‘Oh, I beat it.’ Yeah—with a team of doctors and experimental drugs. When Trump gets sick he goes to Walter Reed. The average American goes […]
Hillary Clinton, who earlier endorsed Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden ahead of the November elections in the US, intimated that America’s defence spending was veering down the “wrong path”, pointing the finger of blame at President Donald Trump’s alleged mismanagement, augmented by “right-wing ideological resistance”. Hillary Clinton has offered her vision of how America ought to be gearing up to face new emerging threats on the global arena, slamming “exorbitant” Pentagon spending on “legacy weapons systems”. In an essay published in Foreign Affairs magazine on 9 October, the former secretary of state urged Congress to review the defense spending budget, explaining […]
When UFC rivals Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor appeared to agree to a rematch in the UFC on social media, plenty in the MMA world were happy. One man who wasn’t, however, was former interim champion Tony Ferguson. The Senate has already cancelled meetings this week due to several senators, including two on the judiciary committee, revealing they are positive for Covid-19. The idea of virtual hearings has been suggested, but Democrats have been resistant to the […]
Pope Francis sounded downright woke in parts of a newly released encyclical – railing against free market, private property, racism and social injustice – but he couldn’t get through the title without offending some observers. Francis said the Covid-19 pandemic proved that free-market policies have failed to produce the societal benefits promised by their proponents. “The marketplace, by itself, cannot resolve every problem, however much we are asked to believe this dogma of neoliberal faith,” the pope wrote in his third encyclical, called “Fratelli Tutti,” to all Catholic bishops. So-called “trickle-down” economics fail to create promised “spillover” that resolves inequality, giving […]

On Friday, The US Department of Justice confirmed a Thursday report by The Wall Street Journal, that US authorities had “successfully” disrupted a “multi-million dollar fuel shipment” by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), after seizing four oil tankers in international waters carrying alleged Iranian gasoline bound for Venezuela. Iran’s Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, on Saturday refuted allegations by the Trump administration about a US seizure of four Iranian oil tankers with fuel bound for Venezuela, saying that the vessels involved in what he described as an act of “piracy” were not Iran-flagged and the fuel on board belonged to […]

SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk disavowed his older socialist beliefs and went full Communism-hater on Twitter, after denouncing the satirical outlet The Onion over an ‘eat the rich’ joke. Just two years ago, Musk had described himself as “actually a socialist” and advocated for the “greatest good for all.” On Monday, however, he tweeted describing the founder of Communism Karl Marx as a “Hungry Santa” and his seminal work Das Kapital as “Gib me dat for free.” What had the fifth-richest person in the world so triggered seems to have been a tweet from The Onion, showing him alongside Amazon’s […]
On Tuesday, US authorities gave China 72 hours to shut down its Houston, Texas Consulate, accusing its staff of systematically engaging in espionage. Beijing responded by ordering US diplomats to leave America’s diplomatic mission in Chengdu, with Washington claiming that China has no right to respond in that kind of tit-for-tat manner. China strongly protests US officials’ “forcible entry” into the Chinese diplomatic mission in Houston on Friday, Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin has announced. “China has expressed strong opposition and a firm protest against the forcible entry of the US side in the territory of the Chinese consulate general in […]
Protesters have vandalized the home of Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf, splattering it with red paint and graffiti while pelting the house with fireworks. The mayor’s office said the attack was meant to “terrorize” and “intimidate.” Along with large splotches of paint thrown across Schaaf’s garage door and a nearby retaining wall, the vandals left countless graffiti messages condemning the mayor and apparently voicing support for the Black Lives Matter movement. According to police, fireworks were also set off in the street during the incident – some fired at the mayor’s house – which is believed to have occurred around 2am on […]
Antifa militants violently attacked a Back the Blue rally in Denver on Sunday as police, clearly ordered to stand down, allowed it to happen. Following the violent attack by black-clad militants holding weapons, the media painted the incident as a “clash” and acted as though both sides were instigating a fight. This was absolutely not the case. @michellemalkin This is what Michelle dealt with today in Denver while at a #backtheblue rally. An antifa group came to cause premeditated violence and injuries. China lashed out Monday against the US, calling the nation the “true global headquarters of hackers” after White House adviser Peter Navarro reiterated unsubstantiated claims over the weekend that TikTok user data is sent to the Chinese military. Created in the US in 2013 as an anti-racism activism and protest movement, Black Lives Matter has enjoyed a surge in support and media coverage in the wake of the George Floyd protests across the US and around the world. A cyber-attack targeting Australia’s government system businesses and service providers, confirmed on 19 June by Prime Minister Scott Morrison, was likely orchestrated by China in retaliation for the crackdown on Huawei, Australian media reported earlier. Huawei has condemned former Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull for suggesting that his move in 2018 to ban the telecommunications equipment giant from installing the 5G mobile network in his country was now justified, due to recent reports claiming China might be behind a cyber-attack targeting Australia’s government system, reported The Australian Financial Review (AFR). In an extremely rare walk back last week, President Donald Trump moved the date of his big Tulsa campaign rally so that it would no longer fall on Juneteenth, the day that commemorates the end of slavery. Then, he undid any sliver of good will he may have received by claiming that he is responsible for making that 150-year-old holiday famous. “While Trump had his mouth open anyway, a lot of other stupid stuff dribbled out,” Stephen Colbert said on The Late Show Thursday night before revealing the comments Trump made in a new interview with The Wall Street Journal. “Far […]

MSNBC host Chris Hayes took New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to task on Thursday night for falsely claiming that New York police hadn’t beaten protesters despite video evidence to the contrary. In recent days, several videos have surfaced on social media showing NYPD officers whacking peaceful protesters with batons, including a “horrifying” viral clip of three officers bludgeoning a cyclist on Wednesday night. The latter video prompted widespread outrage—except from the governor and mayor. Noting that Wednesday night’s New York protest over George Floyd’s death devolved into violence because “the NYPD started beating […]
