MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The United Kingdom’s National Audit Office on Friday issued a 23-page report intended to learn from the government’s actions leading up to Brexit, which officially took place on 31 January 2020. The report found that government departments spent a collective $5.8 billion and mobilised 22,000 employees between the June 2016 vote and the Brexit date. The ruling Conservative Government planned to the free school meal voucher system which had been provided for low-income children while school ended over the summer holidays. A campaign by footballer Marcus Rashford put pressure on the government to maintain the scheme in order to combat increasing financial vulnerability.
