Though the 2020 elections set a new record for voter turnout, more people still chose not to vote than supported either candidate. This shows yet again that the bipartisan political regime of the U.S. has nothing to offer to most of the working class and oppressed. While it is now abundantly clear that Joe Biden has won the electoral college by a hefty margin, many questions remain about who voted in the election and why. As we begin to analyze […]

Maine Senator Susan Collins says she will vote ‘no’ to confirming Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court, since it’s too close to the election, while refusing to say anything critical about how Barrett’s originalist judicial philosophy might imperil a woman’s right to choose. Collins is a Republican who supports abortion rights, a brand that has carried her to victory four times, but with Barrett’s confirmation all but certain, Collins’ longtime balancing act may have reached its tipping point. The GOP is getting closer to reaching its goal, the overturning of Roe v Wade, the now almost 50-year-old ruling that made […]
Joe Biden said voters deserve to know where he stands on expanding the Supreme Court – reversing a statement he made last week – but he again declined to give a definitive answer on whether he plans to install more liberal judges. Speaking Thursday night at a town hall hosted by ABC News, the Democrat presidential candidate said his view on so-called court packing will be influenced by handling of the ongoing confirmation process for President Donald’s Trump’s current nominee to the court, Amy Coney Barrett. “It depends on how this turns out – not how he wins, but how it’s […]
GREENSBORO, N.C.—When he arrived at the polls to vote for the first time on Thursday, Ricardo Lopez-Salazar was on edge. “On the way over here I was kind of nervous,” Lopez-Salazar, an 18-year old student at Guilford Technical Community College, told The Daily Beast. Soon enough, a Republican poll observer stared directly at him, just days after Donald Trump encouraged his supporters to show up early and often at polling places across America. Under North Carolina law, each party is allowed to have up to two observers in each polling place. Dianne Doughty, a Guilford County GOP volunteer, told The Daily […]
Early voting turnout has reached record numbers, with up to 14 million Americans having already cast their ballots in the general election, according to US Elections Project data. US academics have warned against leaping to conclusions with regard to which party’s candidate is likely to benefit from the emerging trend – Donald Trump or Joe Biden. At least 425,028 ballots were cast in-person on 13 October, while at least 224,122 had been sent in by mail in Texas, as The Texas Tribune reported on Tuesday. Meanwhile, in Ohio, 193,021 residents have voted in person since the state’s elections centres opened on […]

On Monday night, Donald Trump held his first campaign rally since recovering from the coronavirus, with the election event coming after his physician gave the president the all-clear for being around other people again. President Trump’s performance at Monday’s campaign rally in Sanford, Florida was a make-or-break opportunity for him to contrast his vitality against former Vice President Joe Biden’s lack of vitality, and he seems to have nailed his goal, says Dr. Carole Lieberman, certified psychologist, body language expert and bestselling author. “President Trump seemed determined to show the world that he was – not only back to health, but […]

Refusing to answer whether or not he supports packing the Supreme Court, Joe Biden has set off alarms by taking things even further and saying voters “don’t deserve” to know his position on the issue. Hitting the closing stretch of the election, and trailing by a substantial margin in the polls, Donald Trump is placing his political hopes on winning over voters with cold hard cash. Over the past month, the president and his team have coalesced around a series of policies that would result in billions of dollars being allocated to critical constituencies right as voting begins: a proposal to dramatically increase government lending in African American communities, an order to send seniors a $200 rebate card for prescription drug purchases, and a newfound desire for an ambitious stimulus package to deal with the fallout […]

LONDON—Over three million Black voters in key states were identified by President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign as people they had to persuade to stay at home on Election Day to help him reach the White House. The revelation comes from an enormous data leak obtained by the British news network Channel 4. It shows that, four years ago, the Trump campaign prepared files on almost 200 million American voters and separated some out into eight different categories. One such category, assigned to 3.5 million Black voters, was titled: “Deterrence.” The leaked database was reportedly used by Trump’s digital campaign team, which […]
GENEVA (Sputnik) – Swiss voters have rejected a proposal to limit the free movement of people from countries of the European Union, according to the preliminary results of a referendum that was held on Sunday. Roughly 62 percent of voters rejected the proposal, which would have imposed restrictions on labor migration into Switzerland, the preliminary results showed. The Swiss People’s Party tabled the motion, expressing a desire to take away the European Union’s control over the country’s migration laws. At present, Switzerland is obliged to accept workers from EU countries, although a deal was struck with Brussels following a 2014 referendum […]
